Pricing
Window cleaning prices
Pricing
Our prices for our regular window cleaning service start at £12 for flat and £15 for a house.
Tailored quote
We prefer to provide customers with a quote tailored to their individual property, rather than give a generic quote based solely on how many bedrooms the house has.
What affects the quote?
-
The location of your property. Quoting for properties on streets or in areas we already have work will be less than if we have to make a special journey to reach you. If your property is within 100m (the length of our hose) of others of our customers, you will receive the best possible quote, as we will be able to work as efficiently as possible in this case.
-
Size of your property.
-
Number of, size and style of windows.
-
Accessibility of windows.

Where our prices come from
Aside from factors that influence the quote to be higher or lower, what other factors influence the core we work with for what are fair and appropriate prices for cleaning people's windows and the other services we provide?
Some factors
With moderate residential properties, the actual job may only take 5, 10, 15mins to complete.
People may argue that charging, for example, £10 for a job that only takes 5mins is an exorbitant price. They may think of averages for hourly rates in other jobs and feel that such a charge is unfair.

So, what factors influence our pricing, so that it is fair and appropriate to both parties, customer and us, your service provider?
Consider more
-
In most jobs, a regular wage is paid from a single employer. This wage is paid hourly, every day, every week.
-
With our window cleaning service, regardless of what our end hourly takeaway is, we are only receiving money from a single customer roughly once a month, not every hour, not every day.
-
In line with this, managing a clientele in such a way that the business can be profitable and run smoothly takes a lot of time and effort, beyond simply showing up and carrying out our service. This is a factor in our pricing.

Additionally, there are other essential business activities that we carry out in order to keep a high standard of business, providing our customers with the most seamless, quality service we can, including:
-
Keeping our vehicle clean to a suitable standard.
-
Keeping the hold area of our vehicle, and equipment for our cleaning systems orderly, clean, well-maintained and up-to-date.
-
Frequently changing our water-purifying resin to ensure the water we use to clean is deionised, at less than 10ppm TDS at all times.
-
Creating, editing and keeping up-to-date, notes, letters and cards for our customers, along with maintaining our social media and website.
-
All these and others are factors we include when pricing work, as they are essential or important activities that take time and effort outside of carrying out the actual service, in order to allow us to perform our end service seamlessly and to a high standard.
The type of work
In order to make the business profitable, we work non-stop all day, with the exception of a lunch break. This is physical work, outside in whatever elements we may come across. Unless the weather proves to be a safety hazard, we continue to reliably, professionally carry out our work, on time, be-it blazing sun, rain, hail or snow.
Our day doesn't end when we park the van after work. We have customers to invoice, and sheets/records to prepare for the next working day. We fill up our 350L vehicle-mounted water tank at the end of every day, and clean our cloths and gloves, and carbon fibre poles, often at the end of each week. This all takes time and effort that the customer doesn't see.
Overheads
Everyone has bills. We know that well. But, being self-employed, running a business, you have an extra set of large bills in addition to your personal finances.
Here are some of our overheads:
-
Vehicle - purchasing and maintenance costs
-
Fuel costs
-
Various specialist cleaning equipment ex. - carbon fibre poles.
-
Work wear
-
Water-purifying resin
-
Public liability
-
Cards, note and letters
-
etc
Fair pricing
Whilst considering all the above factors, it should be noted that we, as a business and personally are not looking to make a fortune, just to cover our bills and have some extra leftover. We understand that we are all surrounded by a difficult financial climate.

In any case, we aim to always be fair and appropriate in our charge, and quality in our service provided and greatly appreciated our customer's business.
However, the cleaning services we offer are premium services, so if they are desired, an appropriate, and fair price is expected to be paid.
Just had your price increased?
Have you just had your price for regular window cleaning increased?

As you will see from the note you will have received, in the case of many of our customers, the reason for the increase is not solely, or mainly, to adjust for inflation, but is to rectify for work that was underpriced at the original time of quoting. (See above for details on the core of our pricing)
Further explanation
Particularly in cases where our charge for your property has increased significantly, you may be wondering why, and may wonder if our prices are now in-line with or exceeding that of the standard charge for professional window cleaning.
In way of explanation...
In what way could your property have been underpriced?
We have been operating as a business since 2019, September. From this time, a lot of our work has been bought from other window cleaners, selling it, as canvassing is prone to have varying degrees of success.
Different window cleaners price differently, work to different standards, provide different levels of professionalism and have different ways of running their business.
Additionally, when selling work, the reason for sale is often because it is not the best work- the easiest to get around or the best-priced- so window cleaners would rather focus on new customers they can cherry-pick, with their established business.
We found, after careful research and consolation with long-term professionals in the line of work, that much of the work we purchased was underpriced, some, very significantly.
At the time, we were a younger business and inexperienced ourselves. We had a much reduced workload compared to what we have now. So, in the years gone by, we never made any drastic changes to our customer's prices and followed roughly the same pricing system when quoting new work, leading to new work that was also underpriced.
With recent events of the past few years, particularly the pandemic, the economy has been subject to stress, turmoil and many shifts.

So, our reasons for now making a concerted effort to bring the prices our work up to a more appropriate level are two-fold.
Firstly, due to the economic problems causing inflation to rise very much.
Secondly, as we are growing as a business and taking on new customers, which are now being priced appropriately, with limited time and an increased workload and clientele to manage, it is no longer viable for us to continue working work that is so significantly underpriced. So, we are having to increase our prices to bring them up to an appropriate level across the board, as needed.
What to expect for future
Depending on your property and the current price, this increase may be the only large increase. For others, there may be a few more larger increases from this year going forwards.

In any case, as most, if not all service businesses do periodically, many annually, prices will be put up yearly or bi-yearly. However, once our price for your property has reached an appropriate level, subsequent, annual increases will be more minor.

If you have a query as to the specifics of the increase for your particular property, please get in touch. The people that clean your windows are also those who deal with our customers, so they will be able to provide you with as detailed a response as possible.
